When you consider the outdoors and all the beautiful nature that Pulaski County has to offer, it should be no surprise to find that there are three golf courses all within 40 minutes of each other. Take into account other considerations when planning a golf outing such as the conditions of the course, the pace of play, the clubhouse, social environment, and lastly the cost. Then you’ll be happy to know that you have choices. Pulaski County has a course to meet whatever your level of play.
The Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech is a world - class golf facility. With 2½ miles of the course bordering the New River, this challenging course lives up to the designer’s reputation. The clubhouse has some of the most beautiful views in the area, and food from Preston’s at the River enhances the game.
One of the favorite courses in the New River Valley is Draper Golf Club. It provides the novice a good course to be competitive while at the same time giving the more experienced golfer a challenge due to the elevation changes. This is the kind of course discover and want to come back to again and again.
One our hidden gems is another course with incredible views and great greens, Thorn Spring Golf Course and Event Center. This family- owned course is run by people that know how to make everyone welcome. It is the kind of course that locals will run out to during their lunch break to play a couple of holes and enjoy the camaraderie of the other golfers.
